DISABILITY VOTER REGISTRATION WEEK

July 16 – 20, 2018

WHEREAS, there are 57 million people with disabilities of all ages living in communities throughout the United States, and 75,783 living in Washington, DC; and

WHEREAS, the disability community has a critical interest in policies enacted at local, state, and national levels that effect the integration of people with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, the involvement of people with disabilities is essential to creating and influencing public policies to ensure these policies meet the real needs of people with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, “REV Up Campaign Register! Educate! Vote! Use Your Power,” is a statewide effort to encourage people with disabilities to registered to vote, educated about the voting process and exercise their voting rights in all elections; and

WHEREAS, Washington, DC encourages and supports the concerted effort to get individuals with disabilities to become involved in our voting process:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, THE MAYOR OF WASHINGTON, DC, do hereby proclaim July 16 - 20, 2018, in Washington, DC, as “DISABILITY VOTER REGISTRATION WEEK."
